This book identifies a need to move beyond discussions of ownership, power and control in favour of exploring new kinds of partnerships between museums anf the peoples or countries of origin, partnerships based on equitability and reconciliation. La otra palabra. Mujeres y violencia en Chiapas, antes y después de Acteal

This is the second edition of the translation of the English IWGIA Document The other word: Women and Violence in Chiapas Before and After Acteal which was published in 2001. The book is about the masacre in Chiapas, Mexico in 1997 where 32 women and 13 men were killed. Various human rights organisations wrote detailed reports of the massacre and different media organisations produced their analyses as well. The voices and feelings of women that were lost among the numbers, cronologies, and political analyses of this mass of information are rescued in this book.
