IWGIA Newsletter - 2/2007

This edition of IWGIA Newsletter covers news and updates from the indigenous world and IWGIA in February and March 2007.

IWGIA announcement:

The Board of IWGIA hereby wishes to inform that Ms Ulla Godtfredsen and the Board after an open and constructive discussion have mutually agreed to end the contract as IWGIA's director as of 31st March 2007. This is of course inconvenient but nonetheless found necessary, and both parties would like to stress that we part as friends and colleagues and hope to find new ways of cooperation in the future.

Until a new director has been appointed, IWGIA's human rights coordinator and deputy director, Ms Lola García-Alix has agreed to take on the responsibility as director. She will be seconded by a management committee consisting of Anni Hammerlund, IWGIA's administrator, Espen Waehle, chairman of the Board of IWGIA, and Diana Vinding, vice-chair.

The IWGIA Board and Secretariat feel confident that these dispositions will ensure the necessary continuity and development of IWGIA's activities. We also trust that they will in no way affect our good working relationship with our partners.

Sincerely
On behalf of IWGIA's Board
Espen Wæhle, Chair of IWGIA's Board
&
Ulla Godtfredsen
