IWGIA hosts a conference on Indigenous Peoples and Climate Change in Copenhagen

The International Work Group for Indigenous Affairs (IWGIA) organised a conference on Indigenous Peoples and Climate Change on 21-22 February 2008 in Copenhagen. The conference was attended by indigenous peoples representatives, Danish Foreign Ministry staff, Greenland Homerule representatives, development practitioners, and IWGIA members. The conference focused on the key issues facing indigenous peoples in the context of climate change, including rights and barriers to adaptation and mitigation, and what prevents indigenous peoples from responding and adapting to climate change. The report from the conference has been published and can be found on our website.
