This book gives a detailed description of the existing international mechanisms for prevention and compensation of serious violations of the fundamental rights of indigenous peoples.
This IWGIA document aims to dispel the mystery which surrounds the workings of the United Nations, and to reduce the suspicion which some people hold towards the organisation whilst moderating the exaggerated optimism of others, making available to the reader a collection of basic information on the possibilities and limitations of the United Nations' action in the field of human rights.
