Ação dos Jovens Indígenas de Dourados Brazil (AJI)

Miscellaneous Information

Miscellaneous Information:

Ação dos Jovens Indígenas de Dourados Brazil (AJI) is an indigenous youth organisation financed by private capital. AJI was founded in 2001 by the anthropologist, María de Lourdes Beldi Alcantara, together with young Guarani-Kaiowá and Aruak individuals. One of AJI’s objectives is to strengthen the links between the three ethnic groups that make up the Dourados Indigenous Reserve, considered to be the most densely populated reserve in the country: 15,000 indigenous people living within a 3.5 hectare area between the cities of Dourados and Itaporã. AJI’s offices are in Dourados, four kilometres from the Indigenous Reserve.
