Miscellaneous Information

Miscellaneous Information:

The Continental Network of Indigenous Women (ECMIA) is a joint indigenous organisation of the three Americas. Since 1995, ECMIA promotes the participation and visibility of the indigenous women and youth as main actors of the defence and full realization of their rights. As a representative instance of the international indigenous movement, ECMIA participate in the debate forums and policy development of the UN system and other instances concerned with the recognition of indigenous peoples’ rights.

The organization promotes joint and united work of the indigenous women of the continent, with the purpose to be a voice of global weight for the manifestations of the problems, the search for joint alternatives, the sharing of experiences and the inclusion of the indigenous woman in the social, economic, political and cultural processes within the villages and in the countries of the continent.
